Prostředí
Důležitou roli v péči o handicapované děti hraje prostředí, ve kterém se zařízení nachází. Na samém počátku rozhodování jsme na jednu misku vah položili městské prostředí a relativně snadnou dostupnost krajského města Plzně a na druhou, i přes horší dostupnost, jedno z nejzdravějších míst v ČR - čistou přírodu Brdských lesů. I když se zpočátku naše rozhodnutí zdálo pro mnohé nepochopitelné, přiklonili jsme se k druhé variantě a projekt péče o handicapované děti jsme přesunuli do lesů jižní části Brd.
Přesto jsme stále v kontaktu s civilizací – od nejbližšího sjezdu z dálnice D5 jste u nás do 15 minut a stejný čas je potřebný k dojezdu do města Plzně.
Naším blízkým sousedem je státní zámek Kozel, jehož zahrady a nakonec i prostory zámku jsou bezbariérové a lákají tak k procházkám.
Rozvoj areálu a služeb
CENTRUM HÁJEK vznikl jako sociální a zdravotnický komplex určený pro péči a léčbu dětí s různými druhy a stupni postižení.
V současné době CENTRUM HÁJEK poskytuje služby sociálního charakteru v podobě stacionáře pro handicapované děti od jednoho roku do 15 let. Tuto službu aktuálně využívá deset dětí denně.
Jako nestátní zdravotnické zařízení nabízí CENTRUM HÁJEK široké portfolio rehabilitačních metod zaměřených především na dětské pacienty. Specializujeme se na léčbu pacientů

Bohužel se nám zatím nepodařilo dokončit rekonstrukci hotelu a restaurace. Ubytování v této chvíli řešíme prostřednictvím smluvních ubytovacích kapacit v blízkém okolí. Pro rodiče, kteří nedisponují vlastním automobilem nabízíme dopravu naším minibusem.
CENTRUM HÁJEK dnes využívá pro svoji potřebu necelou třetinu stávajícího objektu. I tak je to úctyhodných 800 m2. V blízké budoucnosti projde celkovou rekonstrukcí zázemí hotelu a restaurace. Poté bude možné nabídnout ubytování přímo v areálu šestnácti pacientům s doprovodem.

Vznik zařízení
Projekt Asociace pro pomoc handicapovaným dětem
CENTRUM HÁJEK je projekt Asociace pro pomoc handicapovaným dětem, která vznikla na konci roku 2010. Založili ji rodiče pečující o těžce postiženého chlapce Samuela. CENTRUM HÁJEK vznikl na základě neuspokojené poptávky sociálních a rehabilitačních služeb pro handicapované děti. Dnes pod tímto názvem působí denní stacionář pro děti do 15 let a centrum intenzivní léčebné rehabilitace TheraSuit.
V roce 2012 jsme zahájili poměrně náročnou přestavbu areálu bývalého hotelu Hájek, který se nachází v jižní části Brdských lesů nedaleko státního zámku Kozel. Cílem je vybudovat sociálně-rehabilitační komplex služeb, kde bude odborný personál využívat léčebné metody a postupy s využitím moderních rehabilitačních pomůcek, strojů a zařízení k intenzivní léčebné rehabilitaci. Během jednoho roku se nám podařilo zrekonstruovat zadní trakt budovy a v dubnu roku 2013 jsme mohli zahájit činnost dětského stacionáře a části rehabilitace.
Tím, že jsme převzali část starostí o handicapované děti, pomáháme rodinám s jejich velmi těžkou celodenní péčí a umožňujeme jim návrat do plnohodnotného pracovního a společenského života. Čas, který dítě stráví ve stacionáři, využíváme k intenzivní rehabilitaci a tak neustále pracujeme na zlepšení zdravotního stavu dítěte.
